100 Suns is an award-winning design of solar cooker, which can be constructed with readily available materials at home at low-cost while being able to perform like a gas burner. It was designed by Amogh Sahaje. It is the recipient of the Energy Globe Award from Sudan.

  • August 2024: Zambia Daily Mail posts about 100 Suns.
  • July 2024: Renowned musician from Chipata, Zambia-Afflatus learns to solar cook: Tipika Tuesday-Afflatus
  • May 2024: First 100 Suns constructed in Zambia by Mr. Matthias Ulrich.
  • March 2024: Solar Cooking Demonstration was organised at Navi Mumbai, along with Prof. Celestino Ruivo. The event was open to the public where solar cooking with 100 Suns and Solar Funnel Cookers was elaborated and demonstrated, with live cooking, hands-on learning, and free tasting.
  • September 2023: 100 Suns is being used for Solar Barbecuing in Zimbabwe. The trials are being conducted by Alex Machipisa based in Harare with plans to establish the first solar restaurant in Zimbabwe.
  • May 2023: Manufacturing of 100 Suns solar stoves begins in Kassala and Gedarif states, despite the ongoing civil war in the country.
  • April 2023: The more than one thousand 100 Suns solar stoves constructed locally in Mayo Locality, near Khartoum, Sudan until the Civil War broke out are proving their greater utility now. In this tough situation, when basic services are unavailable, electricity, cooking gas, and charcoal are difficult to find, and even venturing out of the house is a risk to life, the 100 Suns solar stoves are able to provide hot meals to its owners without needing any fuel.
  • March 2023: Solar stove production - Roll out of four thousand 100 Suns solar stoves begins in Sudan with support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and manufactured wholly by indigenous communities.

  • December 2022: 100 Suns wins the National Energy Globe Award in Sudan for its initiative in the country: training refugees, IDPs and host communities in construction and operation of 100 Suns solar stoves.

  • November 2022: 2 Degrees Café at IIT Gandhinagar, in Gujarat installed 100 Suns solar stoves to provide sun-cooked menu alternatives to customers.
  • May 2022: National Institute of Rural Development Hyderabad installs 100 Suns at their Rural Technology Park.
  • February 2022: 100 Suns solar stoves installed in the Little Rann of Kutch in India for salt farming families as a pilot project in collaboration with GIAN.
  • December 2021: Over 300 persons from refugee and host communities trained in constructing the 100 Suns solar stoves in different regions of Sudan in collaboration with UNDP Sudan. Three Manufacturing units are being established which shall be operated by the trained persons.
  • October 2020: 100 Suns Solar Stove installed for a small eatery in Ahmedabad, India.
  • March 2020: Five Solar Stoves constructed for Agro Science Center Nandurbar, India by Aadivasi youth of the Pawara tribe.
  • December 2019: 100 Suns Solar Stove presented at the Serendipity Art Festival in Goa, India, under the theme of 'Inventions as works of Art'.
  • May 2019: Development Support Center India (DSC India) installed 100 Suns at its field office at Khandbara, Maharashtra.
  • November 2018: Comprehensive Rural Health Project (CRHP), Jamkhed, Maharashtra India installed 100 Suns solar stove at its campus.
  • October 2018: Newspaper report: A 100 Suns to the Rescue
  • September 2018: Partners in Sustainable Development, an NGO based in Ghana built its first 100 Suns solar stove. Mr. Annor Douglas, the organization's CEO, plans to deploy it in the rural parts of Ghana.
  • April 2018: Devrai Art Village, Panchgani India installs 100 Suns solar stove.
  • January 2016: First 100 Suns solar stove is constructed in a remote forest village of Nandurbar district of Maharashtra, India.
