The Asymetric CPC box solar cooker was developed under the direction of the Renewable Energy Development Center of Algeria, which is looking for ways to take advantage of the available solar energy of the Saharan environment.

The cooker is a variation of a trough cooker design, incorporating upper and lower parabolic mirrored reflectors to focus light onto an enclosed cooking chamber located at the base of the reflectors.
