Aisha Khalid, URDU VOA NEWS, Washington. This report takes a look at the efforts of some American organizations and individuals in enabling Afghans in harnessing their country's vast renewable energy sources for solving the energy crisis. Based on her observations during her deployment in Afghanistan few years ago Patricia McArdle, a former US diplomat, believes that solar energy can provide a cheap and reliable solution to Afghans' most of the energy problems through investment in developing better technology as well as raising awareness. President of the Vital Power Systems, Tuck Miller, shares McArdle's viewpoint. His company along with some other organizations is installing solar panel systems in different Afghan villages and towns. However both of the interviewees were not satisfied with the focus of the US government's assistance for solving the energy crisis of Afghanistan. They believe that the current focus of the efforts will only increase Afghanistan's dependence on foreign assistance.
