can I use a lamp instead of sun to heat the over up, because my project has to be presented inside

I don't know the answer but I'll ask Ramon to answer it. --Beth Ogilvie 17:35, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
If I may jump in... The sun delivers about 1000 Watts/square meter to the surface of the earth. A 500 W incandescent lamp is readily available at a hardware store as a work light, but emits most of its power in the infrared. This power is blocked by glass and most plastics and won't heat your oven. The visible light from the lamp will heat your oven, but the effect will be modest since it only amounts to 10 or 20 watts. Special lamps called "solar simulators" would work, but are expensive and not easy to obtain. Walter Siegmund 21:07, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
