This article is about an entity that either no longer exists or that may no longer be active in solar cooking promotion. It is retained here for archival purposes.

The Foundation for Rural Education, Wildlife and Environment operates from Banjulunding, Kombo North District in the West Coast Region of The Gambia under the leadership of Executive Director, William Adetona.

As part of local efforts to discourage the felling of trees by logging companies, often for used as firewood by rural citizens, they have vigorously campaigned for the use of solar cookers. Their message: Use the free and available energy from the sun.

Deforestation is having a dramatic negative impact on the environment and local wildlife. Farmers are being forced find new vocations due to the destruction of forests and farmlands.

The foundation began teaching solar cooking in 2011.
