Fundo Abraço, located in São Paulo, Brazil, fabricates heat-retention cooking baskets called the Fogões de Caixa. The construction of Fogões de Caixas takes place in two phases. First, the production of vine baskets using the Guarani technique is carried out by the indigenous people of Aldeia Itawerá. To be worked, the vine must be harvested in the right moon and properly treated so that the weave is resistant and does not break easily.
Once the baskets are ready, they are sent to the Tem Sentimento collective where the project's seamstresses complete the FC. They sew a protective layer using tetra pak boxes that would otherwise go to waste without proper reuse and they also sew the insulating pads that we use to retain the heat of the pots placed in the FC. After finishing the insulation created by the Tem Sentimento women the FCs are ready to be distributed and used.
