Since 1996, Heike Hoedt has been associated with Solare Brücke, a non-profit organisation registered in Germany. Solare Brücke is developing and promoting technical know-how on Scheffler Reflectors, their applications, and other solar thermal devices, like box cookers and solar food dryers. She is a board member of Solare Brücke for over a decade now and has guided numerous projects around the world. She has dedicated her time to technology transfers and technical follow up to assist many NGOs and individuals in using solar energy through locally manufactured technologies. From 2005 to 2010 Heike was working extensively with the Afghan Bedmoschk Solar Center, implementing renewable energies in Afghanistan. She is an adivsor to the India One Solar Powerplant in Rajasthan, India. In 2010 she initiated Solar Simply Solar, an engineering and consultancy company that clubs together the efforts of various people in the field of alternative solar technologies. She is one of Simply Solars directors.
Together with Wolfgang Scheffler she received the Nuclear-Free Future Award 2006 in the category "Solutions". The ceremony was held at the Navajo Education Center on Dec. 1, 2006.
