The Hot-Box Solar Oven is a substantial solar box cooker presented by Popular Mechanics. It is aimed at users wishing to build their own solar oven. The base is a plywood box lined with rigid insulation and gypsum wallboard. The reflectors are cut from rigid foam, and covered with aluminum foil.
The reflectors are fixed with brackets, and do not fold away for storage convenience. The efficiency of the oven will be increased by extending angled sections to the sides of the reflectors for increased solar gain.
