Jackie Harsha has been solar cooking since 2001, and is the author of Heaven Sent Food - A Guide to Solar Cooking. Published in 2008, the book has been well received by people who are solar cooks and people who want to learn more about solar cooking so they can start using the energy of the sun to create delicious, nutritious food and save energy and money.
Besides being a strong advocate for solar cooking, Jackie Harsha is a former member of the Maricopa Association of Governments Water Quality Advisory Board. She initiated the water conservation programs in new home subdivisions in the Phoenix metro area by working with the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association and Central Home Builders' Association of Arizona to promote low water use landscape techniques in new home subdivisions in Arizona. She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Laguna Beach Chamber Music Society.
Her recent activities led her to promote solar cooking in a recently published book called Energy Savers That Work (http://www.EnergySaversThatWork.com). This comprehensive book cites solar cooking as the most energy efficient way to cook, as well as being the most cost-effective way to use solar energy at home.
She currently lives in sunny Phoenix and enjoys cooking many of her meals in her three solar ovens, and coming up with new recipes to share with others on her website.
