Originally from Miahuatlan, Oaxaca, Juana María Hernández Jarquín had all her academic training in the state of Chiapas. In 2010 she received a degree in Energy Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Chiapas, and then a Master's Degree in Science in Sustainable Development from the University of Sciences and Arts of Chiapas (UNICACH). Her work in Renewable Energies, includes the construction and evaluation of flat solar heaters (3) and solar dryers (4), in addition to the constant promotion of renewable energy in general and solar cookers as well, she is member of The Network of Women in Renewable Energies (REDMEREE) and a Solar Cookers International Association Associate, ISES, ANES and ASES.
In solar drying, she participated in the construction, installation and evaluation of 4 prototypes of solar dryers in collaboration with the ChiapaSolar group. A dryer of 4.5 m3 destined for the drying of Chiapas fresh cheese in Cintalapa, Chiapas this solar dryer continues to operate from its installation to date allowing solar drying of cheese to producers and improving their economy. she also works on 2 m3 cabinet type solar dryers, partially disassembled, and a third model is a solar-wind hybrid dryer of the same volume. The fourth prototype consisted of 17 solar dryers of 1.3 m3 completely in stainless steel and aluminum for the drying of chili in rural communities.
The kinetics of solar drying and conventional drying of Chiapas fresh cheese are being her contribution, with which she developed his master thesis project. The mathematical modeling of drying kinetics and determination of the diffusion coefficient and activation energy of the dehydrated products is another field she researches. His work in drying allowed to obtain two patents in process, one for the process of solar drying of fresh cheese and other for an integral solar dryer.
At the same time, she is a partner in ChiapaSolar S.C., a leading company in the development of projects that apply renewable energies for the social and environmental progress. In addition to the supply, installation and maintenance of renewable energy equipment, in which she performs in sales and as an project engineer.
