Lesotho Cooker

The Lesotho Cooker is named for the small African country where it is made. It is a solar box cooker design that is larger than a typical family-size cooker, and can prepare meals for 10-15 people. It is constructed mostly of metal, made to handle frequent use, and built to last quite a long time.

Wood supplies are limited in the country, and metal construction is one answer to this problem. Given the conductive nature on metal, an oven like this needs to be well-insulated, and assembled by trained metal workers.

Inside the oven, the food is arranged on stepped shelving to maximize exposure to the sun. The top reflector also can fold down over the oven when not in use. thumb|450px|left
