The Public-Private Alliance Foundation (PPAF) works to help people in Haiti with innovations and collaborations, to improve public health and find environmental solutions. The foundation was established in 2007 as an outgrowth of the United Nations Public-Private Alliance for Rural Development and the interest of ambassadors to the United Nations from Madagascar, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti.
PPAF seeks to turn global policies into practice in its areas of focus. Since the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, special attention goes to efforts to overcome the poverty—respiratory disease—deforestation trap of the country’s families' heavy reliance on charcoal for cooking. They have created a coalition, working with a Haitian university and Haitian non-profits, as well as American organizations promoting clean cooking and capacity-building.

- January 2024: School gathering to solar cook - Eliesheriff Joseph organized a follow-up gathering held at the school attached to the church. The school provides kindergarten, primary, and secondary programs with 550 students, and 540 attended the solar cooking demonstration, along with 15 teachers, 5 cooks, 3 school leaders and 2 bodyguards. They used 20 solar ovens, again a combination of solar cookers provided by Tom Hallquist and Haines 2.0 panel cookers. Financial support was provided by PPAF. Eliesheriff notes it was challenging managing such a large group with so many students eager to learn about solar cooking. Everyone was able to enjoy a good meal.

Panelists represented organizations working on research & development for solar and biogas cookstoves. Dr. Alan Bigelow, the Science Director, for Solar Cookers International, explained how solar cooking meets all of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and presented highlights of the solar cooker performance evaluation process (PEP).
