The solar food dryers listed below are available either for purchase, or offer plans for their construcion.
Solar dryers available for purchase
- Kiin - The Kiin, a compact and tested solar dryer designed by Bernhard Müller, will be available in August 2022 for purchase through Solar Brother, his partner company in France. The commercial dryer will come in three different versions: 1. with natural draft, 2. with photovoltaic cell powered fan and 3. with thermo-element to control the fan.
- Khan's Solar Food Dryer - Khan's Solar Food Dryer was designed by Mr. Muhammed Yasin Khan, living in Chichawatni, Pakistan The upper trays step back to allow for maximum light. Additional heat is gathered via a lower solar collector in front. The dryer is accessed from the rear through hinged doors and vented with electrical fans in front.
- Multipurpose Solar Dryer - The Multipurpose Solar Dryer is offered for sale through Rudra Solar Energy located in Gujarat, India. It is available with the following capacities: 10 kg, 25 kg, 50 kg, 100 kg, 200 kg per day. Made From 100% stainless steel and aluminium for durabilty and rust-free construction.
- Radha Energy Cell - Radha Energy Cell is marketed by a company of the same name in Ludhiana Punjab, India. Their products appear well-suited to rural off-grid agricultultural and food processing operations.
- Simply Solar - Simply Solar is located in Germany. They offer design and production consulting services for effcient solutions to the energy production needs of small groups, communities, and institutions around the world. Simply Solar is also active in the area of solar food drying.
- SolarFlex Food Dryer - The SolarFlex Food Dryer was developed by Malnutrition Matters in partnership with SolarFlex Inc. The drying trays remain level, but the air collector assembly can be raised for the best solar orientation as needed. They also offer larger commercial dryers available to the global market.
- Desidratador Hibrido P.S 12 - The Desidratador Hibrido P.S 12, designed by Pleno Sol located in Brazil, is offered in various sizes. A sturdy well-made product with photovoltatic fan driven ventilation.
Solar dryer construction plans
- Kiin solar dryer - The Kiin, a compact and tested solar dryer designed by Bernhard Müller, has available construction instructions. He has provided the manual for the Kiin to explain its functions and assembly. The dryer can be made with inexpensive materials and should be easy to build.
- Solar cabinet dryer - The Solar cabinet dryer was designed by Bernhard Müller. A construction manual was created to make this technology available to all. The dryer is primarily suited for use in equatorial countries given the slope of the collector compartment.
- KotoSec Solar Dryer - The KotoSec Solar Dryer, was designed by Andrew Kotowski living in Poland. It has been self-constructed using materials readily available on the market, as well as with recycling materials. It should be easy to duplicate. The design is simple, lightweight, and is easy to transport.
