Participants in Sunpower.coop in Morocco
Sunpower.coop is a Moroccan solar energy cooperative founded by young women engineers and technicians committed to advancing the country's energy transition through locally produced solar technologies.
Sunpower.coop operates in the region of Tétouan, Morocco, and focuses on the design, manufacture, and distribution of solar cooking devices such as solar ovens, dryers, and cookers. The cooperative is part of a broader movement to promote sustainable energy solutions and empower women in the renewable energy sector.
Mission[]
The cooperative's mission is to:
- Provide clean, affordable solar cooking alternatives to rural and urban communities
- Reduce reliance on firewood and butane gas
- Create green jobs for women and youth
- Support Morocco’s climate and development goals
Activities[]
- Technical training for women in solar thermal manufacturing
- Production and sale of solar cookers and dryers
- Community outreach and education on sustainable cooking practices
- Collaboration with other cooperatives and NGOs to scale impact
