A parabolic trough bread oven powers a solar bakery run by the Bethel Business and Community Development Centre in Lesotho.

Solar-baked bread

Tho of these cookers are used daily by the Bethel Business and Community Development Centre to bake 48 loaves a bread. These loaves are sold to support the Centre. Ivan Yaholnitsky, the inventor stated in early 2016 that he has modified the design to make it more efficient. The plans below are for the original design.

  • NEW: Update - 4 January 2022: Ivan has provided a construction change he suggests for the tube baking chamber. Replace the inner layer of the tube with copper, instead of using alumimnum for better heat transfer to the cooking food.
