Sam Brown and Tara Miller

Tara Miller and her husband, Sam Brown, first introduced solar cookers (and solar electric) to Taquile Island on Lake Titicaca Peru in 1996. Lake Titicaca is located at the northern end of the Altiplano basin, high in the Andes on the border of Peru and Bolivia. They have continued to visit every couple years, becoming godparents and developing a close and lasting relationship with the local community.

When they visit, they keep a travel blog to chronicle their adventures and solar cooking experiences on this off-grid island of UNESCO-recognized textile artists. Postings are at their Amigos de Taquile Blog. Those interested, can sign up to follow the blog and be alerted to new postings.
